Special Invitation from Larry and Jeff
Dear Friends and Family
As you probably know, our grand opening celebration of The Well is this Sunday, January 9 @10:00 a.m. and I’m very excited about it.
It’s good to get excited about places, isn’t it? I get excited about going to Disneyland or to my favorite restaurant; I even get excited about staying home if it means not going to work. But as excited as I am about having a place to gather, I’m even more excited about Jesus, because The Well is not a place, it’s a person.
Jesus was speaking to a woman just like us, a woman that was searching for something… more… when he said, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Jesus is our well of deep mystery, Jesus is our well of deep understanding, Jesus is our well of deep love, of deep and total forgiveness, of deep abiding peace, he is our everlasting hope, our purpose and our very life… As Luke says, “‘for in him we live and move and have our being”.
So let’s get all excited about the space we get to gather in. Let’s invite our friends and family to come and celebrate with us… but let us never lose sight of the fact that the space is just that… we come together whether it’s in a coffee shop or a cathedral to experience Jesus, the Well.
Jeff and I are looking forward to seeing everyone there; we have planned a wonderful time of worship and celebration directly followed by a reception catered by Chef Adam (I’m excited about that too).
Many of you have heard me praise God for how he has provided for us all along the way, even when things were difficult. In our early relationship with Java Joe’s we were meeting every other week and it was clear that the owner wasn’t that excited about our meetings. But over time the love and appreciation that we showed them in the name of Jesus, won them over to the point that they looked forward to Sunday mornings. In case anyone doubts God’s providence and provision for The Well, we were informed that as of this writing Java Joe’s is no longer in business. We are saddened by this and ask that you join Jeff and I in prayer for Gloria, the employees and the people that regularly meet there. At the same time, however we are also joyful over God’s faithful provision.
So clear your calendars and come expectant…
In His service together,
Jeff and Larry
